Internet?!

So as it were, there is in fact internet at our current hotel in Helsinki, Finland. We arrived here on a giant ferry boat docked out of Stockholm that sailed overnight to Turku. The ship (more or less appropriately dubbed 'the booze cruise') left around 7 and got in about 13 hours later. The cabins were really nice - photos later maybe and had excellent food and an open bar.

On the way to the ferry we stopped at the Bruno Mathsson Center and Kallemo to get the full range of swedish furniture from traditional to very avant garde. Both showrooms were located in Värnamo, Sweden.

En route to Helsinki we stopped at the Korhonen showrooms and manufacturing plant where they produce all of the Alvar Aalto furniture as well as the Paimio (Hospital designed by Aalto) and Hvitträsk (Earo Saarinen's house and studio) where we ate lunch and went swimming respectively. Absolutely excellent stuff - but little to know sleep this far.

Aalto Stools (we saw some Serbians dancing on these later in the night - clearly strong construction)

Saarinen's Living/Dining Room

Tango Chair at Kallemo
Concrete Chair at Kallemo

Extremely high hopes for the rest of the tour!
